Awful Customer Service and Billing Practices
I made a $198.80 debit purchase from Harry and David a few days ago. When I reviewed my bank account this morning, I saw that I had TWO pending charges for the purchase amount and immediately called them.
Not only did I have to wait on hold for about 45 minutes, but the Customer Service Representative was awful and her attitude was less-than-stellar. She was unable to answer my question as to why there were TWO pending charges when I only made one purchase and got very frustrated with me. I ended up speaking to a Supervisor who was a little nicer, but told me that Harry and David has this procedure in place and that the hold would come off once my order shipped which would be next week. Essentially, Harry and David gets to hold onto $198.80 of my money, in addition to the $198.80 I spent on gifts.
Needless to say, they lost a loyal customer today. Please be aware of this practice when giving Harry and David your business.

Double billed and no one at H & D's is listening
On to day 3 with Harry and David. Got up very early to call Customer svc and get thru...and did!
Actually got to speak again to supervisor Cindy. That's where the fun ends.
Cindy tells me they know now that they double charged me.
She still doesn't understand they'...
After waiting 9 min a second time I was cut off. Emails are not being answered. It's an on-going nightmare. I've personally gone to my bank where both a debit and credit card are issued to me.
Ms. Blakeney at the bank confirms both charges to my account. For her to refuse payment will take 30 days. For H & D to refund my money takes a week.
If only I could get them.
Folks, steer clear of Harry and David. They put the Grinch in the season.

Still have a pending charge on checking account for several days after they got their money.
They did remove the extra hold against my checking account and did give me a full refund for my order that I cancelled. They sent me a complimentary gift box for all of my trouble.

Harry And David - Classic Favorites Gift Basket Review
We received a Harry and David gift from our daughter who lives in Missouri-we live in Colorado. I was thrilled because I enjoyed the one we received last year and we're retired seniors and don't need most gifts but we did enjoy a similar gift she sent us last year.
The beautiful pears must have frozen during shipment and receipt were ruined.

Free offer was a lie
I received an email from Cheryl's cookies saying that, as a member of their "Celebrations Rewards" program, I could receive a box (presumably small) of Royal Riviera pears for the cost of shipping ($7.99). There was no qualification as to how many would be sold or if there was any time limit or expiration date.
I clicked on the email as soon as I saw it, which may have been a couple hours after it was sent and was told there were no more. I contacted customer service and ending up having to deal with a supervisor (Chloe). So much for customer service as she could offer no solution other than to apologize (gee, sorry, that means a whole lot to me--sarcasm) to say they were sold out. I asked if H & D were still selling the pears and was told they were.
But not that particular box.
As far as I'm concerned, though they sell quality stuff, Harry & David's word is worthless to me and I will no longer do business with them or buy from any of their related companies. For a small box of fruit--it could have been apples or whatever was in season as a substitute, this never would have happened.

Orders may not arrive on time....
I ordered for next day delivery and accepted the additional charge of $30.00 so that my customer would get their gift on time. However, they did not have the gift in-stock (and there was no way to know that ) which meant that they were never going to deliver my gift on my selected delivery date.
In fact, they were going to send the gift within 10 days of the order which is completely unacceptable. When I called on the date of my delivery to see when my gift was supposed to arrive, they then told me the facts regarding the status of my order which was that it was going to arrive to the customer within 10 days of the ordered placed rather than on the date I had selected. I canceled my order and with total aggravation. Obviously, when someone makes an order for a particular date (due to a special occasion) the next best option will never be within 10 days of that date.
Are they crazy? This was by far the most frustrating gift ordering experiences that I have ever had.
Watch out with these guys! Very sketch!!

The same thing just happened to me. They caused my account to be overdrawn by taking double payments.
Waited for 35 minutes to talk to an outsourced customer service rep who couldn't speak or understand English. Supervisor was a little better, but still couldn't get me back my money.
Said the 2nd charge would drop off in 5 days. This is ridiculous.
