Harry and David experience has been absolutely AWFUL!

I run a a business so for the sake of time this will be very brief. I have spent the better part of two (2) hours on the phone (mostly on hold) after being lied to last week by a Harry & David customer service rep. regarding a refund on packages that did NOT make it to my clients by the specified time. A H&D customer service rep. today told they'd credit me the same amount the rep. told me last week. After being placed on hold for over one hour and forty minutes, a supervisor gets on the phone and put me on hold several more times, doesn't issue me the credit told to me by two H&D customer service reps. She said another supervisor was going to call me back some time. UNBELIEVABLE! I've wasted most of my morning and precious time with liars and cheats. Lesson learned. As a business owner, I will tell you this is the WORST experience I have had with another business. Do yourself a favor and order a gift from anybody else, CERTAINLY NOT pathetic harry & david.

Harry And David Organic Fruit Basket Review

Your customer service is horrible. Two boxes of your organic fruit were mistakenly delivered to my home.

I called and spoke with a member of your Customer Service team to make them aware of the incorrect delivery and they held me on the phone for over 30 minutes and then had the audacity to tell me that I should call Fedex to see about having them come back to get the boxes. I told the rep that she would need to call Fedex to handle that and finally she agreed. I'm calling to make you aware of an incorrect delivery and now you want me to coordinate getting the orders picked back up. I then asked to speak with a manager so I could express my frustration.

The manager just said sorry about that like it was nothing. I said I've been on the line for over 30 minutes trying to help you and all you can say is sorry. The manager then said he would email me a $10.00 coupon which I still have not never received. This experience has made me never want to order anything from your company; just horrible.

Oh and those boxes are still in front of my door.

I'm sure the fruit are going bad. Such a waste.

Business Order

This was absolutely the worst customer service experience I have ever experienced. I placed an offer on Monday and offered to pay by credit card. Nobody contacted me until Thursday for the credit card. The customer service representatives could not help me and I spent over 2 hours on the phone just trying to give them a credit card. Then the order was lost and I had to redo it over again. This was a corporate order with 26 recipients. I will never do corporate or personal business with this company again. I would suggest others refrain from doing business with them as well. I lost 2 hours of productivity waiting on hold for this company.

Not what it looks like.....too expensive for what you get.

Well, I just received my second order from Harry and David. After years and years and wanting to try them, I finally did it.

I signed up for the Presidential Package. So far......don't waste your money. I received 10 apples in November (about $3 per apple) and 8 pears in December (about $3.75 per pear). Trust me, they are not as "pretty" as they look on line.

Honey crisp apples are much better and I get a bag for $4. For the kind of money I paid, I would expect fruits with no blemishes and a taste that is unforgettable. Not so.

Find something else to spend your money on. This is not worth it.

Harry & David was bought out by 1-800-Flowers in 2014

1-800 Flowers bought them out in 2014. 1-800 Flowers is notorious for poor customer service and the runaround. They are too big with their multiple acquisitions (to include the popcorn factory which I also used to love ordering from during the holidays). Thank you for your reviews - I actually just found out today that they were bought out two years ago and was searching the web to see if it impacted H&D quality - sounds like it did. Too bad - they offered a unique product (the famous pears) that my dad loved back when they were only Harry & David. I also read that the CEOs of H&D resigned after the acquisition.

Harry And David Gift Basket Review

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
Used to love the pears. My nephew sends gift basket with pears for my birthday in Oct. I will tell him somehow without really complaining to him not to anymore. The pears had brown spots that enlarged over almost the whole pear while ripening. The inside of fruit was very dry. Second year now absolutely no good. Waste of money.

Harry And David Pie Review

Received a deep dish pear pie by mail from Harry David which was barely average. The skins were left on were tough. Looked online and saw that it cost $59.99. What a waste of money. Any supermarket pie for under $10.00 delivers more value and taste better.

I've been trying to buy a gift

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

for my daughter, at a reasonable price. I've been whipped around several times. Even though I put in all my credit info, you bounced me out, several times, and asked for my info again. My credit is fine. Your site needs some service. It's insulting. I won't spend my money at Harry and David again.

Now, I just got bounced out from the complaint site because, in order to complain, you have to enter at least 100 words

I guess I need about forty more words. Not only do you insult the customer, but you insist that they come up with a certain amount of words

Christmas gift gone bad

Harry And David - Christmas gift gone bad
My sister sent us a box of their "premium" "gourmet" pears for xmas. The pears were simply oversized Bartletts that arrived bruised, blackened and scabrous. Then another box mysteriously arrive - and the pears were in the same condition. You can't even save these things by making pear sauce out of them, because Bartletts don't really a strong pear taste. I am perfectly capable of going to the Buford Farmers' Market or Great Wall or Nam Dae Mun and getting beautiful fresh fruit. I do not think that a company run by a hedge fund knows or cares anything about fruit - or their customers. I'm telling my sister to cease doing business with Harry and David. And also that the really GOOD tasting pears are the Bosc and Seckel varieties. Not these tasteless GMO monstrosity Bartletts.

What kind of imbecile would expect a quality pear from THIS company and at THIS time of year?

Seriously, if that were my sister I'd be questioning her sanity...

Those are rotten Comice pears, not Bartlett (Harry & David calls them Royal Riviera). Your's clearly did not survive shipping very well (they are more delicate than eggs).

Comice pears are picked ripe, stored in refrigeration for a month or two, then shipped. The cold storage makes them unbelievably sweet and delicious, but the duration also brings them very close to going bad. At this ripe stage, they bruise easily and then rot quickly from there.

As you said, you can't salvage them for anything.

H&D will send replacements if they arrive bad, but I don't know how many times... Christmas is just too late in the season in my opinion - but H&D is a gift company so Christmas is when they sell them.

Same thing happened to us. Received one of those expensive packages with about 10 or 12 packages of various edibles.

You know what I'm talking about. Also included were pears and apples. I made pictures and was prepared to send them in to H & D. The pears were awful looking and not edible at all.

1 of 2 apples was the same. Called them to complain and got the nicest lady. Told her the problem and offered to send pictures which she said was not necessary. She appoligized heartily and offered replacement fruit shipped express.

Told her not to bother if they were going to be average sized rotten pears. Guess what, they arrived in the same shape.

Lesson learned. They don't have nice pears in December!!!!

Overpriced nasty soups.

I do not understand why ALL of Harry&Davids soups suck so bad. I had purchased many many years ago, and forgot how horrible they are.

AND EXPENSIVE! So, I recently purchased two of them, for quick fixes when busy. I cannot remember the other garbage tasting one I had a few weeks ago. Was so bad, I wiped it out of mind.

So now I made mushroom leek It is horrible, and VERY SPICY!!!! They all seem to have the same nasty hot and funky spice taste to them. Is it some kind of funky who the *** knows what country spice that is put in every soup they make?SAVE YOUR MONEY AND DON~T BUY THIS ***!

I honestly would be happier with a can of Campbells tomato soup right now..... At least it has a flavor that it should, like tomato, and not hot nasty spices, that I can not even swallow...

Not once but twice I received a gift of pears that were tragic to look at: black spots, scabbed skins (perhaps a plant disease), shriveled up - the second time worse than the first. Their customer service referred to this as "my disappointment." I'd say the burden should have been on them to recognize that they have a major problem with quality control and they misrepresent their produce in their pictures.

Here, in fact, is what the real thing looks like and what is advertised.

What ever happened to truth in advertising and quality control? Shame.

On-line order strange phone calls don't bother

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

I ordered on line to have a wine box with 2 bottles shipped to Wisconsin for a wedding gift. Two days later after order was accepted and payment was accepted I receive an email and a phone call from customer service asking me for birthdates to make sure I was over 21 ok, told it will be shipped now.

Then I get a phone call from not sure who but from the 541 area code telling me that because of the Wisconsin strict liquor laws etc that it is not possible to ship wine from Harry & David, although their website indicates which states they cannot ship to Wisconsin was not listed. I cancelled the order and of course lost 3 days shipping time so wedding gift will be late. Strangely the 3 other companies I contacted told me there is no problem shipping wine to Wisconsin and the order was placed and arrived.

So unclear if Harry and David for some reason just didn't want to complete this order and made it up or is it just incompetence, because the reason they gave not to send and cancel the order clearly does not exist. safe to say I would never deal with this company again nor would I recommend them to anyone

I also am surprised at how spicy and salty the soup mix is. It's dinner for tonight but not sure there will be anyone able to eat it. Have to say I am very disappointed since I added extra vegetables and expensive beef.
