I received two gift boxes for Christmas - a Tower of Treats with pears, apples, yogurt-covered pretzels, caramel popcorn, cookies, etc., and a Sweet and Salty treat box with similar snacks, and mustard dip. All the sweets were overly sweet, with chocolate truffles and chocolate covered cherries almost inedible due to the heavy oil and sugar content, and mustard dip so sugary that 2 tbs.
have 100 calories. Tiny chocolate chip cookies were dreadful. Salty snacks were dried out and seemed stale - the peanut butter in the filled pretzels had dried out to fill only half of the original hole in the pretzel bite. I threw most things away after tasting them.
Pears were ripe and ready to eat, but honestly, you can get these Comice pears at Whole Foods in December for $0.99 a pound.
I have saved the Harry and David pear boxes and now make my own pear gifts to send. I will be asking my relatives to avoid sending Harry and David package snacks and sweets in the future.
