I ordered a $70 gift basket for someone who helped me out of a jam. It was never delivered to him and as I found out later, H&D doesn't require a signature for their items so they have no way of telling you who signed for it or when it was delivered.

I called to inquire about this and while they offered to ship a replacement item, my comment to them was if it wasn't delivered the first time and you have no way of tracking it, why would I expect it to be delivered to the right person the next time? Their suggestion to me was to send an email to see if he received it. (We already knew that answer.) I called back again later to ask about a refund and 1) there was no history of my first call so I had to go over everything again with the 2nd rep.

2) I spent an hour and a half--no typos there-an hour and a half on the phone and her suggestion at that time was to "resend the item." I explained the problem with this again and they refused to give me a refund. I ultimately called my credit card to dispute the purchase and will never use them again.

Reason of review: it was never delivered to the recipient.

Monetary Loss: $70.

Preferred solution: Full refund.

Harry And David Cons: That they didnt provide a refund for an item never delivered.

I have read that H&D was purchased by 1-800-FLOWERS which explains why this company has gone so far downhill. Many people are now complaining about the poor quality of the items in their gift baskets so I will not be ordering from them ever again.
